Alberta workers are the lifeblood of our economy, yet the growing gap between wages and the cost of living is placing immense strain on families and hindering everyone’s prosperity. We are calling for a better future for workers. Inflation has surged by 27% over the past decade, but wages have not kept up.
We demand the following:
Living wages for everyone: Every worker deserves a living wage that ensures not only survival but also the ability to thrive.
Bargaining gains, not losses: We will not accept rollbacks or wage increases that don’t keep up with the cost of living. If a wage is not good enough for us now, it’s not good enough for future workers.
Bridging the wage gap: We stand united in closing the wage gap that disproportionately affects marginalized communities. We are committed to addressing issues that create income inequality.
We, commit to the following:
Standing Firm: We will not bend for a bad deal. We want fair compensation and will reject attempts to undermine our standards.
Solidarity: We will stand with our colleagues, supporting each other to secure the best possible outcomes for all.
Relentless Advocacy: We will continually advocate across all available mediums, ensuring our voices are heard and our demands are met.
We are committed to the best outcomes for all Alberta workers. We urge you, Premier Smith, to join us and take action now.
EA’s in Grande Prairie don’t make a wage enough to feed a family of 4, let alone pay rent. Our top bracket is under $24K
Why are the caregivers of our future treated so poorly that they need food banks and second jobs?
Because I work full-time and still don't make enough to live on. I make over 17% less than the same position in Edmonton!
Workers deserve a living wage. Failing to recognize front line workers is a recipe for further erosion of our public services.
I work as an educational assistant & had not seen a wage increase for 10 years. The one we just got at 2.75% = pennies a month. We make below poverty wages while caring for our future generations.
As a nurse in Alberta I’m pay check to pay check now and it wasn’t like this ten years ago. Now I’m considering a second job to make ends meet. The lack of wage increases in Alberta in the public sector is both astonishing and sad. What’s happened in this province? I’ve encouraged my kids not to choose public sector jobs for this reason and I’m sure there’s many others doing the same. Can the province not see the implications here?
I believe the ones working at the schools deserve a wage that keeps the good staff happy, and everyone deserves a fair living wage.
Education support workers are an invaluable asset and they deserve a fair wage.
We need moor pay
Why are the government cutbacks always starting with Healthcare and Education. We need the people elected to support the province's population not force them into poverty and homeless.
I'm an educator struggling everyday
Healthcare, Education, Child Care, and Social Services are all important to me and these workers deserve a better wage!
